This track was running around my brain from the first time it appeared in my Last.fm player a few weeks ago. I am talking about Clamour from DYE which is Jon Dye from Denton, Texas – USA. With Jon we have the first artist on Schallwellenmagie who is using field recordings in his productions. By the way, this is the pet subject for Don and myself at the moment….enjoy.

Heute Start mit Teil 1: Fuck presets, create your own sounds!
Elektronische Musik besteht bekanntermaßen aus rhythmisch arrangierten Klängen. Wir wollen heute einmal die Klangquellen genauer betrachten.
Jedes der zahlreichen heutigen Musikproduktionsprogramme kann mit einer Vielzahl von Instrumenten aufwarten, für jeden Zweck ist etwas dabei. Ob Drums, Bässe oder Leadstimmen, stets gibts dazu dutzende Presets damit man nicht erst umständlich Sounds generieren muss, was einen Neuling ganz schnell überfordern kann.
Die Gefahr besteht nun darin, dass man so nie von den Presets loskommt und die Produktionen daher nicht besonders innovativ klingen können.
Sicher kann man mit dem Einsatz von Effekten das Klangspektrum erheblich erweitern, doch auch hier sind die Möglichkeiten bereits gründlich ausgelotet.

We met FAKIEDJ for the first time on Last.fm, right from the start we knew him as a very active artist and a guy who is always trying to support the electronic music community.
The man behind FAKIEDJ is Felipe Pozuelo Botija and he is living in Alcazar de San Juan/Ciudad Real in Spain.

Schallwellenmagie empfiehlt Cologne Commons
Cologne Commons findet am 12. und 13. Juni 2009 in Köln statt und ist eine Konferenz zu den Themen freie Musik, Internet und Zukunft der Musikindustrie. Neben Workshops gibt es auch am Konzertabend Musik auf die Ohren.
